Life in the slow lane

The slalom is over and time to relax for the "famous five". Robin and Jacqui have been caught up in a media whirlwind which has put canoeing on the front page and on TV screens across Australia. Keep it up!

Our athletes have been keen supporters of other sports and athletes from rowing to cycling, swimming, hockey and water polo.

Post competition is also a time to catch up with family friends in and around Beijing.
On the social front the main engagement today will be the reception hosted by the Australian Embassy in Beijing.

A number of sports have now finished, including swimming and many of the athletes in the village take on a more relaxed approach to the whole Olympic experience. Mealtimes last longer, the nights become shorter and friendships blossom.

Meanwhile...the competition commences for our other canoeing athletes and the focus shifts to straight line speed and the race to the finish line.
